Wraparound Care

Thirteen thousand five-hundred two. Five hundred six. These are the numbers of children in foster care in the state of Missouri and in Greene County respectively. The numbers are staggering. Missouri is the highest per capita of children in the foster care system in the United States.

The call to serve vulnerable children is sounding louder than ever before, and our Wraparound Care small group is looking to answer that call. The group meets once a month as a time for any and all family units at Central who are caring for vulnerable children to find support and encouragement through community with one another. Whether you are fostering, adopting, providing respite care, or are caring for family members outside of the children's division purview, we want to love and serve you. Our group provides opportunities to tell our stories (through lots of laughter and tears), pray together, and offer support in every way possible.

If you’re interested in learning more or joining this community, join us… we’ll be meeting in Room 204 on the last Wednesday of each month through May. Contact Pastor David Jayne with any questions we may not cover below!

Wraparound Care FAQ:

I've been thinking about fostering or adopting. Is this group for me?
- YES! No better place to get started in your journey than to be in community with like-minded friends. You are welcome to join us.

Do I need a background check to be a part of the group?
- To be a part of this adult small group, there is no background check necessary. However, all volunteers involved with children’s ministry at Central have submitted an application and have been verified through a full background check.

Does the church currently provide training courses for fostering, adopting, etc?
- Central does not currently provide this type of training.

I'm single and without kids. How can I be involved?
- Single people have an integral place in this group. Sometimes the schedule and flexibility of single adults is just what families in care need when it comes to support.

Is there a cost for the group?
- The group is free!

What resources does this group provide outside of spiritual and emotional support?
- Our goal as a group is to provide support and community. However, our desire is not to duplicate or replace the services already in place with the state and county.

Can I bring my kiddos?
- This group is for adults only. We are planning once-a-quarter small events that will include kiddos. Central has world-class activities for kids, youth, and college students on Wednesday nights!

Can families outside of Central come?
-
Any family unit that is caring for vulnerable children that doesn't already have a church home is welcome to come!
