Our Food Pantry is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. We help over 100 families a month through this ministry. Since 2007 we’ve had a monthly outreach to our community. Neighbors Day, which encompasses our Food Pantry and Oil Change Ministry, has stayed true to the initial goal of our community outreach: Love God, Love Your Neighbors.
Our next Neighbors Day is Saturday, November 8. We need new volunteers for both of the ministries, especially the Oil Change Ministry, which needs men and women to help with every job from check-in to crawling under cars. For an investment of only 2 hours one Saturday morning a month, you can make a difference. If you’d like more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, November 2. Remember to set your clocks back 1 hour before going to bed Saturday night. The initial idea for Daylight Saving Time belongs to Benjamin Franklin. He whimsically suggested the idea in a 1784 article as a way to maximize daylight hours and save candles.
Here’s a preview of a couple of great things coming this month:
This group offers support to military personnel, as well as to their families who are holding down the home front. We meet the first Sunday of each month. If you have questions, please contact Sheila Metzger.
Hands of Hope is an outreach Fusion Student Ministries is heading up, in cooperation with Convoy of Hope, on Tuesday, November 4. Students will go to the Convoy of Hope Distribution Center and help package food for current and future aid that could make a global impact. For more information about this outstanding non-profit organization, you can check them out here. If you have questions, please contact us.
Plan now to join us for our Fusion Fall Retreat. Come and get away from the distractions of this world and focus on God. Our theme is “ENDEAVOR: Pursue Your Passion.” Just $75 covers your food, transportation, and lodging. Scholarships are available based on need. If you have questions, please contact us.
This exciting new class is for everyone! It’s for those who desire to volunteer in a ministry but may not be sure where to start, how they can help, or where their strengths lie. It’s also for those who may have a good idea of their strengths but are interested to know what strengths the class might reveal. Prior to the class we will take an exam based on the book, Gallup’s Living Your Strengths. The StrengthsFinder test will determine each individual’s strengths and help match you with possible ministries that “fit you” at Central. To sign up and receive important class information, please e-mail us.
The pastoral staff extends a heartfelt “thank you” to the Central family for the many expressions of love and appreciation showing during October, Pastor Appreciation Month. Your uplifting, encouraging words were truly a gift. We appreciate our Central family more than you will ever know!
Our annual Women@Central Holiday Lunch & Expo on Saturday, November 1 was wonderful! Thanks so much to all the ladies who came and to everyone who made this event possible, including the vendors, workshop presenters, panel members, hostesses, and custodial staff. We appreciate each and every one of you!
We are looking for friendly faces! If you are interested in connecting with people and welcoming them to our church, please consider becoming a greeter. We need volunteers for 9:00, 10:30, and 6:00pm Sundays as well as 6:30pm Wednesdays. If interested in being a welcoming face for Central, please contact us.
