Traditionally, this is a special time to honor our pastors. First Timothy 5:17 says, “Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.” When we honor God’s servants, we honor God. We bless our pastors financially at Christmastime. During this special month of appreciation, we’d like to honor our pastors with personalized notes and cards of appreciation and encouragement. For your convenience, throughout the month of October a box will be located at the Connect Counter where you may drop your gift of encouraging words.
College students and young adults, you don’t want to miss this evening of fellowship, worship, and great food! Come and make new friends while enjoying a delicious Italian dinner. Our 2nd Annual Chili Bowl is coming up on Wednesday, October 29 and will be an evening of delicious chili sampling, games for the kids, and a spirit of camaraderie. The whole church family is invited to join us in the Multipurpose Hall to watch our chili masters compete to win top honors in our chili cook-off. Does your chili have what it takes to claim top honor at our 2014 Chili Bowl? The October 19 registration deadline to compete in the cook-off is just around the corner. What are the chili masters competing to win? Praise and recognition of their chili prowess for one. (Think high-fives in the foyer.) Plus, the winner will score the amazing Chili Bowl Trophy, a traveling monument to past and future winners of this friendly competition. Awards will also be given for Best Judge’s Choice and Best Table Decoration. So do you think your chili has what it takes? Submit your old family recipe, or join a group of friends and submit an entry together. Pick up a registration form at the Connect Counter ASAP. E-mail email@example.com if you have questions. Again, the deadline for entries is Sunday, October 19.

This exciting new class is for everyone! It’s for those who desire to volunteer in a ministry but may not be sure where to start, how they can help, or where their strengths lie. It’s also for those who may have a good idea of their strengths but are interested to know what strengths the class might reveal. Prior to the class we will take an exam based on the book, Gallup’s Living Your Strengths. The StrengthsFinder test will determine each individual’s strengths and help match you with possible ministries that “fit you” at Central. To sign up and receive important class information, please e-mail us.
