Traditionally, this is a special time to honor our pastors. First Timothy 5:17 says, “Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.” When we honor God’s servants, we honor God. We bless our pastors financially at Christmastime. During this special month of appreciation, we’d like to honor our pastors with personalized notes and cards of appreciation and encouragement. For your convenience, throughout the month of October a box will be located at the Connect Counter where you may drop your gift of encouraging words.
Sunday, October 2, we’ll host a luncheon with Pastor Jeff and Carla Peterson for intercultural married couples. Meet in Room E204 at 12:30pm. Please note the room change. On Sunday, October 9, American youth who have an international parent are invited to meet at 12:00pm in the Fusion Center. We’ll have fun creating our own sushi and play a game. If you plan to join us, please let us know.
Everyone is encouraged to participate in our 21-Day Fast from Monday, October 3 to Sunday, October 23. Sunday morning Pastor Jeff will help prepare us for the fast through his message, so we’ll all be ready to begin on Monday. Take a look at the back of the sermon notes, included with the bulletin, to learn about different types of fasting, our focus during this 21-day fast, and resources to help you plan your own fast. Remember, we’re all in this together!
Join us this Wednesday night as Pastor Jeff continues our new WNBS series, 7 Letters to the Churches in Revelation. Come early for fellowship with friends over a cup of coffee.
Have you joined us for Thursday morning prayer yet? We meet for prayer in the chapel from 6:30-7:30a. When you come, use the Boonville side entrance to the chapel. We’re praying for our nation, upcoming elections, our church, families—whatever the need may be. We believe God is doing great things!
On Saturday, October 8, both our Food Pantry (9:30a) and Oil Change Ministry (10:30a) will be in action. If you’d like to make a real difference in lives by giving 2 hours of your time on the second Saturday morning of the month, you may sign up on the Sunday bulletin or contact us here.
Chili Chefs! The 4th Annual Chili Bowl is coming up Wednesday night, October 26. The night will be full of fun competition, prizes, music, and best of all, your chance to add your name to the Chili Bowl Trophy. If you think your chili can handle the heat of friendly competition, sign up on the bulletin or e-mail us.
Also, we need a couple of more things to make the night a success: Volunteers to man the kids’ carnival games and lots of bags of individually-wrapped candy to give away to the kids. No peanuts, please. Bags may be dropped in the designated baskets at each end of the foyer. To volunteer, sign up on the bulletin or contact us here.
Grab your ticket this Sunday for Embrace Your Story: Holiday Dinner & Expo! Doors will open and vendor shopping will begin at 4:00.
