On Sunday morning, October 16, we’ll welcome Melvin and Louise Ho, missionaries to the Netherlands, as our fall missions emphasis guests. They will share a brief missions window with us. After both morning services, Pastor Jeff will lead us in renewing or making new faith promise commitments. Then on Wednesday, October 19, our Fall Missions Emphasis will continue with our guest missionaries expounding on their ministry with amazing stories about the work God is doing in one of the most critical mission fields in the world. Join us as we celebrate missions!
Traditionally, this is a special time to honor our pastors. First Timothy 5:17 says, “Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.” When we honor God’s servants, we honor God. We bless our pastors financially at Christmastime. During this special month of appreciation, we’d like to honor our pastors with personalized notes and cards of appreciation and encouragement. For your convenience, throughout the month of October a box will be located at the Connect Counter where you may drop your gift of encouraging words.
October 16 is Host Family Fellowship Sunday. Host families and students are invited to join us in the Fusion Center at 12noon for a potluck lunch. Don Jacques will speak. Also, our young adults will have a picnic lunch on Sunday, October 23 at Nathaniel Greene Park. If you have questions about our ministry, please contact us.
On October 16 KidZone kids will sell missionary prayer bracelets for only $5 in the foyer. The bracelets are handmade by kids at an Assemblies of God orphanage in Cambodia. All proceeds go to the KidZone BGMC project of building a Christian school in Senegal, West Africa.
The Evangel University Auxiliary is selling pecans to benefit student scholarships and finance campus projects. On October 16 you may place an order at the Connect Counter. Orders will be available for pick-up in November—just in time for holiday baking.
Have you joined us for Thursday morning prayer? We meet for prayer in the chapel from 6:30-7:30a. When you come, use the Boonville side entrance to the chapel. We’re praying for our nation, upcoming elections, our church, families—whatever the need may be. We believe God is doing great things!
Chili Chefs! The 4th Annual Chili Bowl is coming up Wednesday night, October 26. The night will be full of fun competition, prizes, music, and best of all, your chance to add your name to the Chili Bowl Trophy. If you think your chili can handle the heat of friendly competition, sign up on the bulletin or e-mail us.
Also, we need a couple of more things to make the night a success: Volunteers to man the kids’ carnival games and lots of bags of individually-wrapped candy to give away to the kids. No peanuts, please. Bags may be dropped in the designated baskets at each end of the foyer. To volunteer, sign up on the bulletin or contact us here.
Grab your ticket this Sunday for Embrace Your Story: Holiday Dinner & Expo! Doors will open and vendor shopping will begin at 4:00. Workshops will be at 4:45 and 5:30, and dinner and the program with our guest speaker, Rhonda McGinnis, will begin at 6:30. Invite your friends to join us for this exciting event!
SOMO Youth Convention, with speaker Terry Parkman, is coming up November 18 and 19 at James River Church South Campus. The cost for early registration through November 3 is $55. Late registration is $70 through November 11. Questions? E-mail us. Visit the Fusion Info Booth for forms and details.
We’re looking for a few friendly faces! If you’re interested in connecting with people and welcoming them to our church, please consider becoming a greeter. We need help on Sunday nights and Wednesday nights. A volunteer service packet, available at the Connect Counter, must be completed and turned in. Sign up on the Sunday bulletin if you would like to join this ministry.
