We’re counting the hours until our annual evening of delicious food, competitive derby car racing, and a whole lot of fun engaging with our church family and friends. Our 2016 Dine & Derby is the place to be on Sunday, April 10, at 6:00p in the Multipurpose Hall! The night promises excellent sirloin steak and sides prepared by the Royal Rangers and the best pinewood racing around.
This Sunday a limited number of tickets will be available for $7. If you’re racing, arrive about 5:30 to register your car. If you want to race but don’t have a car, you can rent one that’s ready to race for $10. If you ordered Ranger ribs or tri-tips, remember to pick up your order after 4:00. It’s going to be a terrific evening!
This Sunday Pastor Daisuke will speak on “Special Immigration by Faith” from Hebrews 11:8-16. Next week is Host Family Worship Sunday. Our guest speaker will be Andrew Austin, a missionary to Bosnians in the St. Louis area. A potluck lunch will follow the service. The grand opening of the Teen Challenge Super Thrift, to benefit Teen Challenge Women’s Ministries, will be Tuesday, April 12. The store is located at 228 W. Sunshine, across from Bass Pro. The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary and Evangel University will host a special service dedicated to healing on Saturday morning, April 16, in the AGTS chapel. Invite or bring those who are ill to this service. AGTS president Mark Hausfeld says, “In such contexts of focus and faith, God does what only He can do.”
We’re excited to celebrate missions at Central! On Sunday, April 17, our morning speaker will be Terry Wong (Hawaii), and our evening speaker will be Brett VanderMolen (Cambodia). Our Wednesday evening service on April 20 will be a missions night. Then on Sunday, April 24, we’ll launch our Summer Missions Project which will be Project Rescue, an incredible organization that rescues and restores survivors of sexual slavery. Seven of our own guys from Central Assembly worked with Project Rescue in India. We’ll get a report from them. Join us for this week of celebrating missions at Central!
Our International Women’s Ministry Spring event, Courage To Change the World, is coming up Friday, April 22 at 5:30pm in the Fusion Center. Dr. Carol Taylor, president of Evangel University, will be our guest speaker. We’ll have dinner, a Japanese tea ceremony, and special songs in different languages. The cost is $6 per person, and registration is due by April 20. Tickets will be sold at the Connect Counter immediately before and after the second morning service through Sunday, April 20. Women’s Ministries and Girls’ Ministries will present Embrace Your Calling: Girls’ Night Out on Friday, May 13, from 6:00-9:00pm. This will be a casual come-and-go evening with dinner and activities, such as a finger food dinner, make your own salt scrub, games for the kids, and more. The program begins at a 6:45. All generations of women will gather for a time of fellowship, inspiration, and sharing the vision of what we, as women of God, can do. Tickets are on sale in the foyer.
