Lifelong archaeologist shares his incredible personal journey
On Sunday, September 29 from 6:00-7:30pm, Central Assembly hosted Dr. Gabriel Barkay, a prominent Israeli archaeologist who teaches at Bar Ilan University and Jerusalem University College. He shared his incredible personal journey as a lifelong archaeologist in Israel.
Dr. Barkay is best-known for his discovery of the oldest text of the Bible ever found, the Silver Scrolls (Amulets) from Ketef Hinnom just outside Jerusalem, and most recently, the Bethlehem Seal (the oldest mention of the city of Bethlehem) in the Temple Mount Sifting Project, which he directs.
This lecture was the plenary lecture of the annual meeting of the Greater Springfield Professors of Biblical Studies held at Evangel University, but the lecture was open to everyone. Central Assembly was pleased to welcome this renowned archaeologist and educator.
