This Sunday is the 110-year anniversary of Central Assembly! While none of us were here 110 years ago, we reap the seeds sown by those who were, and we invest for the generations to come. Starting this Sunday, which is Pentecost Sunday (click to learn more), our two morning services will combine into one. Join us at 10:30am as we celebrate our Pentecostal and church home heritage. Pastor Jim will speak for both morning worship and the 6:00pm Sunday night service. If you’re looking for a church home, we’re saving you a seat at Central!
Sunday, June 4, is the last day to sign up for Mega Sports Camp! This camp for kids in grades K-5, is similar to VBS , but along with upbeat rallies and Bible lessons, kids also develop skills in a sport of activity. Choices are baseball, basketball, soccer, flag football, volleyball, cooking, or preschool. Also, District Kids’ Camp is coming up July 17-21. Stop by the Kids’ Registration Desk in the foyer for all the details on both of these camps.
Students, our Fusion Life preview will be Sunday, June 4, at 9:00am. Come and check out all the summer Sunday morning class options. We think you’ll see something you like. Fusion Life is designed to help you learn Scripture in a more intimate class setting. For more information, contact us.
On June 4 and 11, Pastors Daisuke and Yoriko will lead a class on empowerment for ministry volunteers who are planning to be involved in Central’s International Ministry this summer and fall. For more information about our ministries, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
On May 21 the Sunday morning Fellowship Class started a summer study of Love Kindness by Barry H Corey. Covering a chapter a week, we’ll discover what it means to “do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” It’s not too late to join this book study!
This Sunday we’ll receive an offering to go toward our Twenty20 campaign. Starting in 2016 and running through 2020, the purpose of the campaign is to pay down our mortgage as we continue to improve and renew our facilities. For each dollar given, 75 cents goes directly to our mortgage principle; 25 cents goes toward special projects around our facilities. The chapel renovation and sanctuary platform improvements were funded by 25% of the Twenty20 giving. We’ve also made a nice dent in our mortgage balance. Thank you for your faithfulness in giving!
This Wednesday night we’ll continue our study of The Prodigal God by Timothy Keller. Daniel Guy will speak on the “True Elder Brother.” Come to the Multipurpose Hall early for good coffee and great fellowship.
Our Food Pantry and Oil Change Ministry will be in action on Saturday morning, June 10. An average of 180 families a month are served by these ministries. Making a difference only takes 2 hours of time, one Saturday a month. Let us know if you’d like to be a part of that difference.
The Central family is wonderfully multi-generational. Whatever your age or stage of life, we have a group to help you connect and make new friends. June 11 is Connect Sunday. New summer group and ministry menus will be available at the Information Counter. Find a group that fits you!
Central Assembly’s 4th Annual Legacy Indoor Camp Meeting is coming up July 6 & 7. It will be a dynamic time with messages from Dr. George O. Wood, Dr. Richard Foth, and Dr. Jim Bradford. Meals will be served both days. To sign up for the free event, visit the Legacy Kiosk in the foyer. Space is limited!
If you’re a new high school graduate who has been an active participant at Central for the past 2 years and will be a full-time student at Evangel or Global University, you’re eligible to apply for a Wannenmacher Scholarship. Forms are available in the church office and are due by July 31.
